Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. - The "Hollow Dead Volcano"
When Dr. Evil steps out of the time portal, he asks #2 if it's a hollow dead volcano. He says it is. Then when Fat Bastard walks in they all think it's an eruption. However it's supposed to be dead. Then when Austin and Felicity are trapped there is lava beneath them. I thought it was hollow. Error???

Maybe Dr. Evil put the lava in his volcano to torture Austin? Ya know, he is the bad guy....

Put lava in it? I don't think so. It's not as if you can buy lava somewhere and then just put in a volcano. It is a live hollowed-out volcano, nothing else.

Ian the Smegmeister writes:
Kato, that would be impossible. Lava hardens when it cools down, so to transport it it would have to be kept at over 100,000 degrees!

What if when they designed and made the lair, they left the lava in the cell, and therefore would not have had to transport it, or obtain it from somewhere?

The person who said 'maybe Evil put the lava in to torture Austin': I agree. If Dr. Evil can get ill-tempered mutated seabass then he can get lava!

Why would you want to buy lava, you would have to keep it very very hot, thats alot of electricity..does Dr. Evil have a power plant or use geothermal?

Right before Dr. Evil and Mini-Me take off for the moon, Evil says something to Scott like, "We're in a volcano. We're surrounded by liquid hot MAG-ma." If they're surrounded, then it couldn't just be in Austin's torture chamber.

First of all, it is not a "hollowed dead volcano" it is a "hollowed OUT volcano." In that case, there would still be lava and everything, the volcano would just be dormant, but active. So you "slip-up" is completed ridiculous. Nice Try!!

You are all looking way too much into this. The story is fiction, fake, make-believe. If you are going to look so much into Dr. Evils lair, then examine Dr. Evil as well. You can't honestly say that he is truly Evil, Scott is more evil!! As is # Two! You all make valid points about the lava, but you are all also thinking way too much into it. We all know that you can't survive if you are surrounded by magma, especially liquid, the heat of it alone would kill you! Just try to enjoy the movie for the humor given by Mike Myers and quit looking so far into it.

To the guy who said about geothermal electricity-DUH! He is in a volcano, he has more heat than he could possibly need and he is surrounded by water-the perfect geothermal power plant!
