Wedding Singer, The - Who Shot J.R.?

In the scene where Robbie is first comes in the door to babysit his two nephews, his sister and brother in law are leaving out the door. The brother-in-law is watching Dallas. He says "I think someone just shot J.R. or something?!?!?!" Well, that happened in 1980. The movie the Wedding Singer happened in 1985. (You know, Billy Idol...Huey Lewis).
