Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope - Porkins Resurrectus
The first rebel pilot to get wasted in the big battle scene was Porkins, or Red 6. Later, when the control room loses track of Luke, you hear someone ask "Red 6, have you seen Red 5?" Of course not; no one's seen Red 6 either since he exploded!
In the movie they got the Red and Gold squadrons mixed up. The y-wings in the movie were red and the x-wings were gold squadron. I've heard of this slip up before and someone said that they had accidently switched the call sign colors for this movie.
I believe the reason Porkins died, was because at the time of the attack on the Death star, you can see, he is massive and had many "rolls" so to speak and the stress and anxiety by the experience, along with a couple bad burritos, simply made Porkins die. Simply put he died of being TOO FAT. Now, I know what you're saying, didn't he get shot down? ... NO, it was because he was too fat, you see, they left out the scene prior to the shot, when Porkins begins to gurgle and a button pops off his pants, because of this no one knows of Porkins problem. And they think he was just another shot down casuality, not true. Maybe in the Star Wars Super Deluxe Mega Bonanza 2, we will see this come into play.
Man, you guys are really mean to Porkins. Bad enough he's named after the other white meat. But this is just cruel. One should speak kindly of the fictional dead.
I just think that it was mean to name the poor thing Porkins. I mean, if you were fat, would you like to be named that?!? I wonder what the actor thought about playing a guy with that type of name....
I read somewhere the X wings were originally supposed to be blue squadron (as they are in the book, not sure if that is before or after the movie though), but they had to change the color because it interfered with the blue screen behind that models. That might just be BS though.
Any one in that situation of having a weapon of mass destruction hovering over them would of course make a mistake.
Porkins was his name, classified as a hero to some, from the Red Squadron (later renamed Rogue)
