Saved by the Bell - Zack's Dad
In the earlier "Miss Bliss" episodes of Saved by the Bell, Zack's dad's name is Peter and we know that Zack's parents are divorced. Yet, in the later episodes with Kelly, Slater, and Jessie, Zack's father's name is Derrick, his parents are together, not to mention his father is played by a different actor. Also, in the Miss Bliss episode where Zack's dad is dating Miss Bliss, Miss Bliss told another teacher, Tina, that she didn't know him that well, (before she found out that he was Zack's father), so she told him her name was Tina, the other teacher's name. However, in the very next scene, Zack's dad comes in to see Miss Bliss, and calls her "Carrie", her real name. If Miss Bliss told Zack's dad that her name was Tina, why would he call her Carrie?

First, I don't believe that the later episodes with Kelly, Slater, and Jessie were supposed to be a continuation from the Bliss episodes (Bliss episodes were in Indiana and the rest were in California, for one example), so I guess they could get away with changing Zack's dad (and his marital status). And I think when Bliss told the other teacher that she told Peter her name was "Tina", it was meant as a jab at the other teacher.

If it's not a continuation, then why do Zack, Screech, and Lisa have the same names, and are all friends. Coincidence? I think not. Saved by the Bell definately WAS a spinoff of "Good Morning Miss Bliss", (what Saved by the Bell was called before it was Saved by the Bell), so the characters should have the same parents and marital status' should be the same too.

That doesn't mean it is a continuation. When they make a movie out of a TV series the characters usually have the same names and relations but it is usually not a continuation of the TV show, it is a completely different story.

Well, considering that the episodes with Miss Bliss took place in Indiana and the high school episodes took place in California, I think that it's completely acceptable. As for Zack's dad, maybe his parents got remarried... it's been known to happen.

Okay, I do remember the "Zack's dad" name discrepancy, but I never realized the early episodes were in Indiana!! If that's the case, then all continuity bets are off, because Zack, Screech, and Lisa would not have moved to Calif together! Oh, yeah, and Belding, too. . .!

Not to mention that the entire school moved too! (it has the same layout)

It's a TV show. They probably changed it to get higher ratings and have a better story line. I think that is was not suppose to be a continuation from Good Morning Ms. Bliss, but it kept some of the same components, i.e. school layout, and characters.

I actually just saw that episode a couple weeks ago...I don't totally remember it all, but I do remember that they had a previous relationship (Miss Bliss and Zack's father), and he recognized her when he saw her...calling her Carrie because he had remembered. :)

If I remember correctly, they never showed Zack's house in the "Good Morning Miss Bliss" run! And The School layout is not the same as it was in the later shows.

Yeah, what's with Zack's dad anyway? He's constantly changing identities and occupations to fit the episode! When they got in a car accident he "sold computers" but in the one when the girls wanted to record an album he just HAPPENED to be a talent agent! Haha.

You know, Zack's mom could have gotten married and his dad that is in the later ones could be his Step-father.

In the California episodes it always said how Zack and Jessie grew up together. How is that so if Zack lived in Indiana all of his young life? As for the thing with Zack's dad...maybe he got emancipated from his Indiana dad cuz he dated his teacher..so he moved to Cali and convinced Lisa and Screech to join him... it is tv after all.

Saved by the Bell has only been set in California. If you watch the episode where Zach and the gang are saving The Max, Zach is a D.J. at some radio station (I forgot which one) the same one Mr. Belding was a D.J. at. The show could of only been set in one place. As for Zach's dad, he could of been his step dad and the step dad could of gotton fired a lot.

If they aren't a continuation, then this doesn't matter. But, in the earlier ones, Zack's parents are divorced, but in the later ones, his parents are still married.

"Good Morning Miss Bliss" originally aired for a short length of time on Disney, but due to poor ratings, the show was cancelled. Producers decided that the show was worth saving, so they relocated to NBC. No longer in junior high or in Indiana for that matter, the cast changed to appeal more to audiences. Now set in the fictitious California highschool called Bayside, new characters: Kelly, A.C., and Jessie joined original "Miss Bliss" characters: Zack, Screech, Lisa, and Mr. Belding for what then became "Saved by the Bell." Many people did not even know about the "Miss Bliss" episodes until they were included in the syndication of "Saved be the Bell," which has led to the confusion between the two series. Didn't anybody notice that Zack was much older in his introductions to the early episodes? I'm pretty sure that it was not intended for "Saved by the Bell" to be a continuation of "Good Morning Miss Bliss," but more so a a reinvention they figured would go unnoticed with the poor ratings previously.

In the "Good Morning Miss Bliss" episodes, they were also in junior high/middle school, not high school.
