Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope - A Galaxy How Far Away?
When Luke and Kenobi enter the cantina, the view switches to several different aliens. Two of the 'aliens' are wearing what appear to be astronaut uniforms. And on the left arm of one of the guys is an US flag.
Yes, one of these aliens is actually Charleton Heston. Translated their conversation goes something like this.
"Hey, is it just me or are a few of these people a bit weird looking?"
"Aww quit worrying and enjoy your... blue... stuff."
"Isn't this the planet from 'Dune'?"
"Oh great... a barfight... duck and cover! No blasters!"
"Hey, at least we're not on that dreaded planet of the apes..."
*wookie growl*
"Oh, c---!"
... what? It's called humor! Egh, fergit this.
I think that the American flag is in there because they are just so damn patriotic all the time , they just couldn't miss out on the opportunity to shove it in.
Um, that's called an 'easter egg.' There are hundreds of these in the Star Wars films. They are just nifty items that Lucas puts in for the perscipacious. For example, the senate in TPM has representatives that look exactly like ET.
Enjoy the movie!
