In the scene where Clarice is prying open the music box, when she bends the "ballerina" figure, the music box slows down both in pitch and tempo, sounding like a warped record. But a real music box would not do this. Only the tempo would slow down. The pitch of each note would remain the same as it was plucked. Sounds like they simply used a recording of a music box and slowed it down to simulate the effect.
