We see that the father has locked the daughter in her room by putting the ole' chair underneath the doorknob to jam the door. When he decides to let her out, he takes everything away from the door...and opens the door swinging INTO the bedroom. So I ask you, what good would it have done to put a chair in FRONT of a door and not behind it underneath the doorknob?
