Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - How Did He End Up with Books?
Harry gets all of Lockhart's books and gives them to Ginny, that's right before the fight. Then, there is the big fight, and Harry is standing there watching the whole thing apparently.
Then the fight ends, and Harry never goes and buys his complete set. Yet by the time they get to school, or even to the burrow, he seems to have them.
I sometimes write stories and I know that I don't always write everything that happens. So maybe he DID purchase the books before the fight, but J.K. Rowling didn't put that in the story. Plus as far as I know this story uses your imagination. SO USE IT!
BECKA IS RIGHT!! The last sentence on page 60 CLEARLY states: "...and Harry found himself being..." (continued on page 61) "...presented with the entire works of Gilderoy Lockhart."
He must of purchased the books but J.K Rowling just didn't write about it because if she wrote about everything Harry did the book would be like: And then he opened the book and read five pages, then he closed the book and wrote his report. Then he stood up and went to the bathroom... and that is boring.
What I don't get is why everyone gets so aggravated if someone finds a slip-up...people make mistakes, and it's fun to find them if they've been made public. So get over it.
Look, this is what happened. Courtney, Harry bought all of his school things in HP3(The Prisoner of Askaban) after he blew up his aunt. Mr. Weasley bought Ginny her cauldron, Ron and Hermione already had there's since their first year, so why would they bother bringing it to Diagon Alley? Becka is right, Lockhart gave Harry all of his books so Harry put them in Ginny's cauldron and said he'd buy his own. I don't have the book right now but right before the fight it says that Mr.Malfoy pulled a battered copy of A Beginners Guide to Tranfiguration out of the glossy lockhart books. Why would Ron or Hermione buy a book they already had too? So it was Ginny's cauldron.
Just because J.K. doesn't say that he did buy them does not mean that he didn't. She never says that Ron bought his books but he shows up with them at school also.
Really, read the book properly! When harry gives them to Ginny, he says "I'd rather buy my own". So the comment about how J.K Rowling may not have put it in is totally relevant.
He did give them to Ginny! "...he managed to make his way out of the limelight to the edge of the room, where Ginny was standing next to her new
cauldron. 'you have these,' Harry mumbled to her, tipping the books into the cauldron. 'I'll buy my own'" He's SAYS that he is giving them to HER.
He did give the books to Ginny. The book states that he dumped the book into Ginny's new cauldron. She was the only one who had a cauldron with her. Since she was the only one who was going into their first, she was the only one who needed a cauldron. Ron/Hermione did not have their cauldrons with them.
Ashley!! Ron n Herm didnt have their cauldrons because they already had brought them a year before! It was Ginnys Cauldron as you would know if you had read the book...*1st year supplys*
Honestly, does JK have to write absolutely everything that happens to keep you all happy? I'm sure Harry got the books eventually, but JK thought it was irrelevant to tell us when and how. We've never read of Harry going to the bathroom before, but that doesn't mean he hasn't for 4 years.
