When they are in the poppies, Dorothy is getting really tired. When she falls to the ground, it looks like she's just taken her time sitting and then lying on the ground. Can you say bad acting!
When people get tired, they often sit. I don't think it was bad acting; I think she was acknowledging the fact that she was exhausted and then just needed to rest for "a little while".
