On the third (true)ending, When Waddlesworth is explaining how it was all done he says Professer Plum wasn't in the Kitchen when they found the cook! Well, He WAS! I think the first ending made more sense!
OK, first of all... Logic in the movie was kind of thrown out the window...;-). Secondly, in the kitchen, in every scene at least one person was missing, I don't quite remember the order but that was how they did it to make it seem as though any one person wasn't there at any given time.
Later on Wadsworth says it took half a minuite to kill Mr. Boddy. Also Prof. Plum is gone the first 25-30 seconds about.SO...Prof. Plum kills Mr Boddy, and returns to the kitchen.
Okay, there isn't a TRUE ending. I've read all the posts for this movie and it's finally gotten on my nerves.
In the original theatrical release of the movie, when you went to see the movie in the theatres, you only saw one ending. It was random. Then later they were compiled and finally when you got the movie on VHS it had all three endings with the little musical interlude between them. They are all the TRUE ending, it just depended on which version you saw. It only looks like there is supposed to be three "takes" on the ending when you watch the movie only on tape (don't know about DVD). The original intention was that, like the game, you could have multiple scenarios. F*cking brilliant I think.
Mindbender, granted I have only seen this on TV and video, but on those two versions of the movie, before the second ending they a screen comes up that says "That's how it could have happened...But what about this?" Then, after that ending, the screen says "But here's how it REALLY happened." So, according to this, there IS a true ending to the movie, and the third one is it. It may not have been that way in the theatrical release, but it is now.
I think that was kinda the point of Clue. Nobody I know understands everything in the whole film totally. Every time I watch it, I pick up something new and I know the whole script practically by heart!
By the way, were there only three endings? There might have been more, so that everybody murdered everyone?
just two things to say. Mindbender, thats all a good point. i was waiting to see someone mention the theater endings. But, just adding that in the VHS, right before they show the third ending, it does say "Heres what Really happened".
Secondly, Laydee, why would there be another ending to where "Everyone killed everybody" that doesn't even make sense. have a nice day.
im am going to have to sit down with a pen and paper and keep a record of what happens when in the movie. because i never know what really happens each time i see it. i think thats the point though. still, i would like to see who is missing when people are found dead as well as other stuff.
