The three roommates are having a discussion in the apartment. Jones(female) believes that Derrick is not being upfront about everything he knows. She is sitting on a floor step. He walks up behind her and hands her a drink (half full glass) while she sits. She is upset and smashes the glass on the wooden floor. The glass is empty!

This occurs about midway through the film after the gossip/rumor has gotten out of control.
