At one point in the movie, someone gives Fivel a Morgan silver dollar to use as a mirror. But this movie is supposed to take place in 1819. They didn't start making Morgan silver dollars until the 1870s.
an american tail takes place in 1885 during the reign of tsar alexander the 3rd; he wasn't so big on the jewish, thus the mousekewitz's need to emigrate. that's kind of why they were able to do the second movie as a western. nice spot though.
