When Dorothy turns around after the tree has slapped her hand, she almost falls down. She has to steady herself on the scarecrow. It happens very fast so watch closely.
I think that Dorothy staggering adds a certain dramatic effect. It makes it look like she could have actually gotten hit by the tree. I don't think it's a worthy slip-up.
