Right at the beginning of the film-when the titles are just coming up-as Julia Roberts is getting in the car. Behind her-quite high up-is a bill board advert that has an Internet address on it. As the movie is set in 1993 this does not quite fit!
The movie takes place in the early 90's. You can check masryvititoe.com; it says Erin Brockovich started working there in 1991 and soon after made the discovery.
Actually, it really doesn't matter if the movie is in 1993 or 1985. The Internet has been around since the 1970's. And don't try to correct me on this, for I'm not lying, nor am I mistaken. The Internet, although very new and not what we think of it as today, was used in the 70's. Now, of course, it wasn't high-speed, or as available to people, and you couldn't get as much information, it was, nevertheless, out there.
the movie is set in the early 90's because they make a lot of references to Love Canal.......which i live very close to(not THAT close tho i still have the regular 5 fingers and 5 toes lol) and that happened in the 80's late 70's.
if the movie is set in 1985 how is beth 16 now?? i was born in 1984 and im 23. so i do believe it took place in 1993 or so. but the age has nothing to do with the slip up mentioned here. i recall very little from the early 90's seeing as i was a child, but i dont recall too many web addresses on anything. not like they have now. so think it would seem highly unlikley that a billboard would have a web address. not really a slip up but more unlikely to happen.
