In that commercial, the first guy doesn't have milk, he goes outside to the cow and is figuring out how to milk it. The 2 others who remained in the house say, "Aren't you going to tell him that's a boy cow?" And the other goes, "No, he'll figure it out for himself." Well, I hate to break the news to you, but all cows are girls. There is no such thing as a boy cow. They are called BULLS.
They are saying that because a boy cow is a bull and a girl bull is a cow. They have to say that or half the audience that views commercials (most of whom are stupid) wouldn't get the idea.
This slip-up is a 1 out of 10
I'm such an idiot for not noticing that! Also, you can tell the difference between a cow and a bull. They tried to be funny, but they screwed up majorly!
Cows has adapted into the general classification of the animal. What i mean is its like just the general sence of it. If she said "doesnt he know that thats a bull?" then it would take on a whole new meaning. If you try to get milk from a bull you will be pulling on somethin but it aint no udder. Plus saying bull sounds like a different breed of animals so there are male and female versions of it so by saying boy cow it maximizes the effect of the joke. And yes i might be looking way too deep into this
COW is the name of the breed, just like a goose. Both male and female are considered cows as a breed. Both male and female are geese but a goose is also specifically the female of that breed - http://www.dictionary.com/cgi-bin/dict.pl?term=goose -and for cows - http://www.dictionary.com/cgi-bin/dict.pl?term=cow
I agree with the original slip up! A cow is female, and a Bull is male. So why would they say, "aren't going to tell him it's a boy cow" is stupid. As for the comment they call both cows/bulls cows, they look nothing alike!! How could that be?? The original slip up is a 10!!
"Cows" is not the name of the species of animal! They're cattle! I'm a farmer, so it bugs me when people always say cows(especially this stupid commercial). A cow is a female who has had a calf. A heifer is a female who has not had a calf(generally under 2 years). A steer is a bull calf that has been castrated.
