Continuity error:

The first time that Richard (Jonathan Silverman) picks up the phone to call the police and report Bernie dead, you will see Larry's (Andrew McCarthy) hand/arm enter the scene and and click down on the phone to stop him from making the call.

Watch the arm going in and then after he hangs up and it pans to both actors and you will see it is clearly either not the same scene or it may not have been Andrew's hand that clicks it.
