In the opening of the movie when John Travolta is crossing the road to go the Denneys restaurant you see a Big K-Mart sign. If the movie took place in 1988 wouldn't be just K-mart instead of Big K-mart with the old store logo with the red K and the mart in green print' instead of the big K with the mart in the center and written in white.
