If you watch the famous chariot race, you can clearly see tire marks ahead of the chariots, apparently from the van or truck carrying the camera as they filmed.
This happens all the time in black-and-white Westerns, both the high-budget and low budget ones. Also on the Western T.V. shows as well, this phenomenon was quite common.
