Armageddon - From Houston to Florida?
If you weren't in the shuttle, you were in Houston, TX. That's where Billy Bob Thorton and Liv Tyler were supposed to be during the movie. The shuttle immediately returns after the asteroid is destroyed to Kennedy in Florida - an hour or so later. Remember zero barrier was very close to earth. When the shuttle lands in Florida, everyone magically appears on the runway. A pretty quick trip. Perhaps they beamed over there.

Florida isn't the only place the shuttle could land. In reality, the shuttle can land at a couple different Air Force bases if the weather is bad in Florida. I think the bases are located in Colorado and California, so maybe it was the California one they landed at.

The Space Shuttle can also land at Biggs Army Air Field in El Paso, Texas.

Actually, they DO land in Florida. As the ship is approaching the runway, Colonel Sharp says something like "We see you Kennedy, and you never looked so good."

I don't know what you people are talking about. The dispute is over how people at Houston got to Florida so fast. Not where the returning mission landed. They landed at Kennedy, and you know this from Colonel Sharp. My guess is, its NASA, and they have the fastest flying planes in the world. If it were real life, I'm sure they could get someone to Kennedy ASAP.

Why is it difficult to believe that Liv could be in Florida> Thorton was running the part of the operation located in Florida because they watched the shuttle leave, close up. So what's wrong with the fact that they stayed in Florida the whole time?

If I can remember correctly, Billy Bob Thorton was in Florida when the shuttles took off. I remember him saying after the launch, "they're all yours, Houston." They may have flown to Houston afterwards but I'm pretty sure they stayed in Florida the entire time.

This really isn't a slip up. It is stated earlier in the movie the the asteroid would take 4 hours to reach Earth from zero barrier. This means that when the space shuttle takes off from the asteroid, it was also take 4 hours (probably even more considering it would have to align itself for reentry) to reach Earth and land. This would give everyone in Houston plenty of time to reach Florida.

It would take considerable time for the shuttle to reach earth, about 4 hours from zero barrier. Anyway, the only people that were in Florida that we recognize are Truman, Molly Mounds, Chick's wife and son and Grace. Everyone else was probably there already in place to greet the shuttle as it landed..
