In the lacrosse game scene, the lacrosse officials are in black shorts. Men's officials dress in white shorts. Women's officials dress in black shorts (or skirts).
OK, it's a slip-up, but how many people would even know what the game is if it wasn't mentioned? It's like pointing out a ref in a hockey game isn't wearing the orange band.
My friend grew up in CA where the movie was filmed and they were wondering by one day when they were filming the LAX seen and they had no idea what they were doing, none of them had ever seen a LAX game before. I know it's not a slip up, it's just a tid bit of info :)
Princess Serena, parts of the film may have been shot in California, but the majority of it was filmed in Michigan. Although they were supposed to be in East Lansing, Michigan (at Michigan State University) for the Lacrosse game, it was actually filmed in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and the surrounding area. In fact, the majority of the movie was filmed in this area.
I`m from England and never even heard of Lacrosse until I seen the movie,so the clothes are no big deal.Does it really matter to get the uniform totally correct?
East Great Falls HS is a takeoff of East Grand Rapids HS, the high school where the writers went. EGR is one of the better boys high school lacrosse teams in western Michigan, so it would make sense that EGF would be as well. Very few technical advisors would pick up on the shorts being the wrong color - it wasn't a very well represented lacrosse game. In the filmmakers' defense, it's not exactly widely played outside the east coast of the US. It's a mistake that probably only a lacrosse player or referee would notice. But as I was the former and am the latter, I picked it up.
