Kalashnakov was the big Russian gun designer -his work and just about *all* other key Russian designs for rifles and pistools i.e. Makarov officers pistol, SKS carbine and others were *licensed* for manufacture by just about ALL their Commie buddies, including North Korea, CHINA, Bulgaria, and others -the Checheslovokians had pride and manufacturing acumen and made their own fine weapons --- Chinese AK-47???? hell yes, check a gun store -or call Sarah Brady, check the lists they want to ban... Communist Chinese imported *TONS* of them into our country (the US) under special exceptions granted by the CLINTON ADMINISTRATION ...harda-to-believe-a???? check it out. (an aside -the AK-47 and SKS fire a round designated as 7.62x39mm, known as the 'short Russian')
