When Tim Allen and Zigourney Weaver are heading through the "Chompers" watch Allen's lips as he says "move". Some of them, his lips aren't moving to the words.
The only slip up I see here is your spelling. Her name is Sigourney not Zigourney.

Why would it be the kid talking? He can't see them, so he wouldn't know when to tell them to move.

It is in fact the kid. I can't remember his name, but he was such a fan of the show, he had the blueprints for the ship in his computer. He knew when each chomper would hit.
