When watched on the big screen, MANY mikes were visible. I had watched it earlier on a smaller movie theatre screen and the mikes weren't visible.
It really does tend to ruin the movie.
A little mic showing is does not ruin the movie. If you would stop paying so much attention to mix ups and actually watch the movie you wouldn't have such a fit over a little mic. It does not ruin the movie.
Cheri, go easy on bigcacomuffin! Bigcacomuffin found a slip-up, albeit a minor one, and submitted it. That's the entire purpose of slipups.com. I agree with you that a slipup doesn't ruin a movie, but, then again, who's saying that it does? No one's 'having a fit' over seeing a mic sneak into the scene. This happens to be one of the better slip-ups that have been posted regarding 'Hannibal' so far. All the posts have been informative, but a lot of them were not slipups, but rather misunderstandings that can be easily explained by reading the book. Congrats to bigcacomuffin for finding a genuine slipup and bringing it to our attention. And, with all due respect, regarding your 'if you would stop paying attention to mix ups' comment: If you don't have anything nice to say, etc...
This needs to be addressed on the main submission page or something. Things being seen in the outer edges of the frame should only be considered a true slip up of they are seen in the home video release. Otherwise, it is simply a slip up for the $12 an hour projectionist being too lazy to adjust the projector properly before starting the film. When movies are filmed, there is quite a bit of extra coverage than what the final cut is supposed to be. It is the projectionists job to make sure that the projection is centered properly. But mistakes happen. As a result, it is possible to see all sorts of things that aren't supposed to be seen. Microphones. Crew members. Nudity that wasn't intended. Sometimes lower body nudity when only breasts were intended. And various other "practical" effects that are used to make movie magic happen within the intended frame.
