In one of the scenes at the pod hangar, Anakin asks Qui-Gon, "What do you mean by that?" What is he talking about? Qui-Gon didn't say anything.

Qui Gon is betting with Watto so he can have a chance to free Anakin, then when Watto is flying away, Watto says to Anakin "Better stop your friend's betting or I'll end up owning him to."
