Me, Myself & Irene - Bad Angle When Thumb Is Blown Off
At the end of the movie where Charlie gets his thumb blown off, they show a close-up of his hand missing the thumb directly after. They did this close-up at a bad angle because its obvious that Jim Carey only had to fold his thumb back for this scene, but you can very easily see that he is folding it.

He didn't fold it BACK amigo, would've snapped it off.. it was tucked into his palm, rather clumsily as you noticed.

Did you expect them to really blow off his thumb? Of COURSE they had to fake it!
