After Herb Baker gets to know that it`s only going to be him and Kane against Miller and the rest of his gang,he pulls out,and leaves the thin star on Kan`s desk.In anger,Kane throws it off the desk.

Remember when Kane returned?Then he put on the tin star again.This star has somehow vanished when he throws Bakers star to the floor.When the boy Sonny appears,the star is suddenly back on his jacket(maybe the filmmakers used Kanes star instead of Bakers when Kane throws it??)
