Ridley put the dragon into the door to open it,then when he goes to Snails grave he put the eye on the grave, uhhhh didn't he just get rid of it?

What would be his motivation for getting rid of it? He's a thief, it's a shiny gem-like object...thieves are not generally known for casually discarding such objects. Awful movie, by the way.
