Shakespare in Love - Forgot to Edit This One
It's England in 1593, throughout the film, Lord Wessex wants to marry Viola and
take her to the plantation in Virginia. But the thing is, the British didn't
have any plantations in Virginia in 1593. The first permanent British settlement
in America was founded at Jamestown, Virginia, in 1607.

The film is meant to be historically inaccurate. It is a fantasy...everything about Shakespeare in this film is not factually true. for example the little kid who plays John Webster...obsessed with death...John Webster was about 50 yrs later than Shakespeare and was a great playwright in his own right.
