The "fat kid" is Mike and he did not get taken, it was Josh, who was very skinny and looks like a hippy who was taken. About the shirt, lots of flannel shirts look alike and I've seen in the movie that Josh had one around his waist a couple times and he might have brought one with him in his pack or something. It was Joshes shirt.
