Blair Witch Project - Was It Really the First Time They Met?

There is a picture of the 3 of them (Josh, Mike and Heather) standing outside their college before they leave for their project.

I'm sure that in the movie it's the first time Heather meets Mike because in Josh's car they shake hands and the conversation goes like this:

Heather: How are you Mike? It's nice to meet you.

Mike: I'm doing good, and I'm very excited about this. Thank you for the opportunity.

Heather: Well, thank you for getting the equipment together.
