Mystery Science Theater 3000 - I Saw That Microphone!
During certain episodes, I know Devilfish is one, watch Mike when they are in the theater. Occasionally, Mike will turn his head to the side and you can see a microphone in front of his mouth.
This is lame, who says he's not supposed to have a headset? I've seen this a million times and thought nothing of it because it's no big deal, but I guess I'm just not that picky.
Big deal about Mike's headset, what about Joel smoking in the theater? Also in
the opening when they show Mike/Joel in the theater with the bots they (the bots)are painted but actually the bots for the theater scenes were painted black so they will show up better on the blue screen.
While we're being picky, many times you can see Joel's glasses when he turns his head in the theater. Also if you watch carefully you can see Joel bend forward to turn the pages of the script which sat on a low table in front of him, or was it to do something else? ;)
You have to take into consideration that MST3K, judging by the rest of the set, did not have a huge budget to edit out small things such as microphones and the sticks used to manipulate the robots. Don't nitpick the show for small things such as this, enjoy it for the great show it is.
If you want to see an unwanted microphone in a MST3K, watch 'Mitchell' with the infamous Joe Don Baker. In a scene where he's talking about arranging a deal, I believe it was right after they ate, Joe Don stands up and there is a boom mike. Even Joel or Mike says something.
It's true that you can see a microphone; But in the opening theme the singer says "And we'll monitor his mind". So maybe the microphone is part of a mind monitoring device.
