Mummy, The - Mummy’s curse slowed down the speed of light?
Inside the tomb, when a mirror was unfolded, light was reflected into a room in the tomb through many mirrors. It took seconds for the light to reach the other side of the room. We all know the speed of light is too fast for anyone to notice it.

Hollyn Ledger writes:
No, not actually. It was the speed of light traveling from one mirror to another over a distance.

It is still far too slow. And also a sunbeam reflected around many mirrors can't light up a room that much, since most of the light will just bounce off to the next mirror. So that trick really won't work.

Find a torch, turn it on, point it at a wall, and see how much of the room lights up :)

Come on, give them a break! If it happened instantly, you wouldn't have known what happened, and they wanted a chance to use some of those fancy special effects.

Like the other person already said, the room will not instantly light up. Unlike electricity the light wont just turn on. It has to bounce from mirror to mirror, that may take just a second. And the room will be lit well because its Hollywood for the love of god!!!!!

The whole point of the mirrors is that light bounces off each of them- but not all the light hits the mirrors at an angle where it is reflected to the next mirror. The other rays reflect off other things and illuminate the room

Actually, that trick really was used in ancient Egypt, and it apparently worked.

The speed of light is about 299 792 458 metres per second. The total distance covered by the light from all the mirrors put together would be no more than 100 metres (I'm being generous), using a simple calculation, the time for the light to reach the entire room is something close to 0.0000003 seconds. Can you imagine something that quick, let alone notice it?

also to make matter worse... can you tell me why the actors do not bloke the light and chain of mirrors as they walk in front of them? surely it would go dark and back light again :)
