Mission To Mars - Genetics
In the scene where they figure out how to complete the sound being emitted by the face, the technical information is all wrong. They say that if they can find the missing chromosomes of the DNA, then they can complete the sound...but chromosomes are made up of multiple DNA.
Big mistake for a movie that was supposed to be technically accurate..even with help from NASA!!

Actually, DNA is made up of chromosomes, so the movie was right

Actually, you're both right, but the first guy is more technically correct. "DNA" is deoxyribonucleic acid--the substance that makes up genetic material in all living things. "Chromosomes" are very long strands of DNA, twisted into and organized structure. It's perfectly right to say that chromosomes are made of DNA--it's pretty much like saying that a knit sweater is made of yarn. Unfortunately, the term "DNA" has become synonymous with "genetic material"--and in that sense, the second guy has a point. But technically, DNA is not made of chromosomes. That's like saying yarn is made of sweater. But *IF* by DNA you really mean "genetic material," then yes, chromosomes make up the genetic material in living things. As a side note, the DNA strands aren't ALWAYS organized into chromosomes. The chromosomes are most readily apparent when a cell is in the process of dividing. At other times, the DNA strands "unwind" to do their normal job of serving as a template for protein synthesis.

Got a good laugh from the line "That looks like human DNA!" That's like picking up a fragment of a blade of grass and saying "this looks like grass from the white-house lawn."

Actually, chromosomes are made from DNA. And, they say that a base pair is a chromosome. A base pair is only hydrogen bonds between either adenine and thymine or guanine and cytosine. So, the movie is totally wrong, by several orders of magnitude.
