Legends of the Fall - What Year Was It?
When the brothers go to war, the caption under the screen reads 1915. I CAN'T BELIEVE that the filmmakers made a mistake like this- America didn't join WW1 until 1917!!! Who were they fighting for?

The USA didn't join WWI until 1917, but the BRITISH were fighting in 1915. The brothers were fighting with the Canadian Army. They discuss this and you can tell because the man kicks the soccer ball into the attack just before they leave the trench. That kick was the trademark of the British army.

Thanks Maggie! I always wondered why they kicked a soccer ball into the battlefield. I thought maybe it was some kind of inside joke or something, but that is neat trivia!

Because they were fighting for Canada Duh! they were in British uniforms... a lot of Americans did this during both ww's when America wasn't officially involved in the war, they wanted to do their part.
