No, Darlene changed his name from Kevin to David. She said, "You don't look like a Kevin." Roseanne said, "David is not even his real name...Darlene gave him that name," when she was trying to convince Dan that David did not force Darlene to have sex, thus making her pregnant.
There actually was a slip-up regarding his name, though. In an episode with David's mom, she called him, "David." If Darlene changed his name, she would not have changed what she called him. She should have still called him, "Kevin." 8-)]

I remember the episode when Mark's brother was introduced and I remember that they called him Kevin, but in an interview that Roseanne made on
a talk show, she said that they decided to change
his name on the show to David. They said that Kevin just did not fit him. I also remember that
they did make reference to this on the show as a joke.

When Roseanne makes that comment about David's real name, she is referring to the name change as a joke -- just like the way they make several jokes about the role of Becky being played by two actresses.

This is probably just a coincidence, but in one of the later episodes, the family is joking about how much control Darlene has over David. Roseanne says, "David's not even his real name!" Maybe his real name IS Kevin! :)

Actually, they were fully aware when this happened. They had wanted to call his character David from the beginning, but he was already on a show where his character name was David, so they called him Kevin to avoid confusion, but by the time he made his second appearance, the other show had been canceled, so the went to the original plan of calling him David.

I noticed this one a long time ago, and the main thing about it to me is that DJ's name is actually David Jacob. So why have two people named David on the same cast living in the same household, even if one of them is only sometimes called by his full name? If they didn't think Kevin suited him, or forgot that they had had him on with that name at one time, I can understand. But why they gave him the name David instead of one of any number of other possible names is beyond me.

Yea, I remember that Nicki chick. I mean I know they place actors in differant roles on the same show, but I just thought it was weird the way it seemed like the guy Sandra dated was the guy that Denise marry's lol.

In a Friends episode Giovanni Ribisi (sp?) drops a condom in Phoebe's guitar case and then comes back to claim it, and then in later episodes, he's her brother...I suppose he could have been her brother back then. Also, in The Cosby Show, the guy who plays Denise's husband (Martin) is in an earlier episode with a different name and he dates Sandra.
