In the scene where Maverick and Hollywood are fighting Jester and Viper, there is a small slip-up. While Maverick is telling Goose to search for Viper one can clearly see the order of the aircraft is Jester, followed by Hollywood (trying to get a shot), and Maverick covering Hollywood's wing. When Goose spots Viper and Maverick decides to go after him the camera switches to an external view of the three aircraft. It is here that we see Hollywood's Tomcat (center aircraft) break away from the formation and not Maverick's (trailing aircraft.)

Although hardly noticable to anyone who isn't obsessed with this movie, it is a slip-up nonetheless.
