Monsters, Inc. - Missing Person/timeline
The time difference between the human world and monster world are 12 hours apart. (The children go to bed at 9pm, the monsters start their scaring at 9am). I'm reading a little to into the plot because it would change the whole movie if it wasn't ignored. Boo spends the night in monster city for at least one night making it daytime in her world...when she's finally back home its nighttime and her parents didn't notice she was missing for the whole day?

I have always thought the same thing. But there really is nothing that says that her parents didn't notice. The only think you see is her bedroom for a really short time. There is nothing to say that her parents haven't been looking for her.

The problem here is... Somewhere on Earth, it is perpetually DAY and somewhere else on Earth, it is perpetually NIGHT... So technically, there are shifts running pretty much around the clock, or should be... There is also the possibility that time moves slower or faster in either "universe" and the full day in the Monset Universe could be only minutes passing in the human world... But of course, it could be that the parents have truly been panic-stricken and have been looking for BOO all this time, as mentioned above...
