When Violet is being interviewed after finding her ticket, she says she's normally a gum chewer, but when she heard about the golden tickets she "laid off" gum. Not 30 seconds later, she says she's been working on her current piece of gum for 3 months. She couldn't "lay off" the gum and work on the same piece of gum for 3 months at the same time. This mistake can be found in both versions of the movie, but in the original she said she laid off gum and switched to chocolate. I'm going to buy the book now to see if the mistake is there too.
