In the CSI Episode "Bull" which aired on 10 Jan 08, Warwick hears an APB for a pickup truck that he is sitting next to in the police parking garage. The driver, a cowboy named Troy, is sitting in the truck with a shotgun barrel under his chin, ready to commit suicide after killing the pimp of the prostitute he was about to marry. As the scene plays out, Nick talks Troy into giving up the pump shotgun. Nick hands the weapon to Cpt. Brass. Brass does what any good officer would do, and clears the weapon. When he pulls the pump action and the round that was in the chamber falls to the parking garage floor, you can distictly hear an EMPTY shotgun shell bouncing around on the concrete.
