American President, The - Was that the whole speech?
After President Shepard makes his speech in front of the press corp near the end, the characters are following him out of the room. One says "well, you don't see that every day." Michael J. Fox's character says "The whole White House press corp is asking each other how to spell erudite." implying that the president used erudite in the speech, which he didn't. It seems that erudite was edited out of the president's speech but the Fox line was left in.

I don't think so. I think they were saying the press would be using the word erudite to describe the president, not quote him. You would have to know what the word means. This isn't a slip-up.
