In the scene where Angel is singing the song "Today for you" he mentions Thelma and louise. Thelma and Luise was a movie that came out in 1991 the film takes place in 1989.
This is because the film is based on the broadway. In the original Broadway production, it takes place in the mid 90's, presumably 1996. That was one of the many consequences of stupid change in the time period
