At 72:32 on the DVD, Dave Bowman does the first EVA in the center pod. He calls it B Pod. (This makes me expect that the others would logically be the A Pod to his left and C Pod to his right.)

At 83:12, Frank Poole and Dave Bowman go to get into a pod to discuss Hal, out of his hearning. This time Dave says, "Rotate C Pod, please, Hal," but it is still the middle pod that turns.

At 92:52, Dave goes to a pod to retrieve Frank's body, no yet knowing that it was Hal who caused his death. This time he says, "Prepare G pod for EVA, Hal," and this activates the right-hand pod. (The subtitle, though, has him saying "B Pod" again, even though the center pod is now gone.)

Finally, at 120:18, when Dave gets into the one remaining pod to go meet the monolith, he emerges out of the center door. The only pod left in the ship should have been the presumable "A Pod" and should have come out of the right-hand door viewed from the outside.
