Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith - Look Mom, No Mechanical Hands
Just after Anakin lands on Mustafar and instructs R2 to remain with the ship, he places his robe hood over his head. Notice that his glove is missing from his right hand, revealing two flesh hands.

Remember the artificial hand Luke got in Ep. V? It looked just like a normal hand. Anakin's droid-like metal hand from the end of Ep. II was obviously replaced, because it wouldn't have filled out the glove, so why couldn't it be fleshy and normal-looking, like Luke's?

Well, it could have been a covering, like on Luke's hand after Vader cut it off...

Ah, sure it can be a flesy looking hand as Luke aquired. However, watching the movie, you'll see that when Obi-Wan cuts off Anakin's legs and left arm in thier battle, when he is trying to climb up the rock, his hand is FULLMETAL. Also, WHEN Darth Sidious is having Anakin's new mechanical parts to bfully become Darth Vader,(you know, his two new legs and left arm) Anakin screams in pain, and raises his right hand, the only one not to be cut off by Obi-Wan during their battle. Look at his right hand. FULLMETAL. No fleshy looking substance. Plus, Luke gets his hand looking robot thingy like 22 flippin years later! in anakins time they weren't that up to date. Because don't you think the Jedi would have given him a fleshy looking arm! HAHAHAHA! ME AND DAVID WIN!

Hmm, but with Luke, he is later in the timeline (even thou the movies were made 1st) So they could of invented the flesh hand then. In number 3, good job spotting :D

Anakin DID NOT have a flesh hand put on because after Obi-1 cuts off his limbs when they are fighting Anakin is crawling up the rocks with a(GASP!)mechanical hand. So this is a slip-up!

Um guys if you remember in Episode 2 you specifically see Anakins robotic hand when hes getting married. He did NOT have a fleshy hand. Good slip up

You see the close-up of Anakin's hand as he crawls up the slope AFTER he caught fire and nearly burned to death. If he did have any synthetic flesh on his mechano-hand, it would've been burned away....

For those of you (as I have) who have read the Expanded SW Universe (post-RotJ) you will realize the term is "SYNITHIFLESH".

Fist off Anakin lost his whole arm not just his hand . And just when did Anakin get the fles-colored covering for his arm?? If you recall in episode III when he is sleeping next to Padme and has the premontion of her dying during child birth, when he wakes up and gets up from the bed he has a mechanical arm. And any time you see him in action it is covered.

hello. forget about the scene on the lava river beach side for just a second and think back, way back, to the dream sequence and anakin waking up beside padme. anakin has a metallic hand. although, it is less metallic looking because as anyone who has seen clone wars volume 2 can tell you, he loses the old c-3po looking arm in the last chapter of that series and it is replaced on his way back to save the chancellor, which, is the beginning of episode III, etc etc etc...

Okay, look. When Luke has his hand cut off, thats at least 22-23 years after Anakin.Obviously, they didn't have the same medical treatments, they were far behind the times, right? So this is obviously a slip-up.

The OP is correct, this is a mistake (Is that a wrist-watch?) Earlier in the film, when Anakin awakes shirtless from a nightmare, he clearly has a metallic gold prosthetic, known as his "mechno-arm" in the fiction. There is no synthflesh covering this arm, you can even see lights blinking inside of it as he throws his robe on. His original clunky prosthetic was destroyed during the Clone Wars cartoon from 2003, and replaced in the same episode with the new, shaped arm we see in ROTS.
