Back To The Future - Velcro Shoes
After the dance, the Doc is hooking up the powerlines to harness the lightning's energy and a branch falls and disconnects the wire by the clock. In Doc's attempts to repair the situation the plug catches on his pant leg. There are several shots of the Doc's feet as he attempts to reach the plug and it is VERY clear that he is wearing VELCRO SHOES (like the kind you find in discount stores). I don't think Velcro had been invented at this time, not to mention used on shoes.

yeah, but velcro was first used on shoes in 1961 by converse. So, unless doc decided to randomly put velcro on his shoes, it is in fact a good slipup

On the DVD edition of BTTF, the velcro shoes are explained. They were packed by Doc in 1985 and taken back to 1955 by Marty. The Doc in 1955 found them whilst looking through the luggage!

Actually, Velcro was invented in the 40's by a Swiss inventor. And if I'm not mistaken, I believe it was originally used on shoes.

No, the shoes do NOT have velcro on them. It is a buckle. If you pause the movie, you can clearly see a buckle on both shoes. On his right shoe, you can see the loop the strap goes through. Besides, velcro sticks to a corresponding velcro piece, not sticking up in the air. Velcro was invented in 1948 by a swiss engineer. http://www.ideafinder.com/history/inventions/velcro.htm
