Merrill yells on the cell phone stating that her merchandise must be delivered by Mother's Day (which is in May). This would mean that the movie is set sometime between April and May, except Owen was the ref of an NFL game. That's out of season, the season ends in January and doesn't start again till August.
not necessarily..it would depend on production time- I belive she was in cosmetics, to get a new line of products started it could take several months for testing, production and distribution...so it could be december
