Dwarves cannot burp while tunneling (because their jaw is unhinged). When they aren't tunneling they can burp. Not a slipup. READ THE BOOK!

For those who don't feel like checking, dwarfs (dwarves?) can't burp as it would be dangerous while tunnelling. This is stated quite early in the first book, I think. Definitely a slip-up.
