When baby's father has just helped penny and they are walking down the steps and across the bridge arguing he leaves telling her to "take that stuff of her face" before her mother sees her (the make up she wore at the other hotel) but... when she was in the car on the way back you could clearly see she had removed it so there wasnt anything there to take off.
