In the scene where Ira Kane is waiting for the flying alien bird to come his way for him to shoot it he cocks his shotgun before the big bird gets there then recocks it right before he shoots the bird without having fired a shot to begin with. Also when then are discussing whether they want white meat or dark meat from the bird and the alien starts to move, all three(Ira, Harry and Wayne) shoot the alien bird without cocking there shotguns.
