When Rachel and Jesse are at the top of the stairs at the end, he says that he loves her and then they cut to a shot of Rachel and you can still see Jesse mouthing the words "I love you," but there's no sound.
If I recall correctly, the film also rewinds and zooms. The mean teenagers would not have done that. I think it was Rachel's powers that were doing that (I don't know why, though). Or, the guy could have just repeated it to himself as she slept.
