The very first episode of "That 80's Show", it states that it is January 9th, 1984. In the background I had noticed an Iggy Pop poster while the lead actor was working in the record shop. The poster in question is Iggy Pop's 1988 album "Instinct". That record store is able to get albums 4 years before they were released. That is one good record store.
